Is There a GT 1040 Graphics Card? Buyer's Guide

The phrase "1040 graphics card" is largely a misconception or a fraudulent marketing term, as there is no official retail NVIDIA GeForce GT 1040 or GTX 1040 in the consumer market. Reddit Wikipedia

Product Reality vs. Market Hoax

* Non-Existent Retail Product: NVIDIA's 10-series lineup officially includes the GT 1030 and GTX 1050, but skips the "1040" designation for desktop users. Reddit Wikipedia

* OEM & Mobile Confusion: A "GeForce 1040" occasionally appears in mobile databases associated with specific laptops like the Lenovo IdeaPad 320S (released around 2017). This was likely a specific OEM rebrand of a low-end mobile chip (possibly an MX150 variant). Laptopmedia

* Fraudulent Listings: On B2B and second-hand platforms, cards labeled "GT 1040" are frequently discovered to be fakes. These are often older, discontinued GPUs (like the GT 450 or GTX 560) whose BIOS has been flashed to display "GT 1040" in diagnostic software to deceive buyers. Reddit

Market Context (2026)

* Absence in Modern Tracking: Current 2026 GPU market reports focus on high-performance series such as the NVIDIA RTX 50-series and AMD Radeon RX 9000-series. The "1040" has no presence in legitimate retail or performance tracking. Tomshardware Pcmag

* Hardware Ambiguity: The number "1040" is more commonly associated with other tech products, such as the Garmin Edge 1040 cycling computer or HP EliteBook 1040 laptops, which can lead to search confusion. Base-Mag Youtube

B2B Sourcing Observations

Sourcing searches for "1040 graphics card" primarily return alternative models (GT 730, GT 1030, or GTX 1050 Ti) or spare parts for HP EliteBook 1040 series laptops, confirming the lack of a standalone desktop GPU under this name.
