The Nokia 8800 was first introduced on 7 April 2005 and was commercially available in the United Kingdom in October 2005 on the O2 mobile phone network. The Nokia 8801 was introduced in North America and uses the frequencies predominant in North America of 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition (8800 redesigned fascia and in "gold" and "queen black", was released in 2006. This version of the phone has a 2-megapixel camera and slightly updated keypad layout. The phone chassis was slightly modified to include the upgraded 700mAH BP-6X battery. In early 2007 Nokia released the 24ct gold plated version of the 8800 Sirocco, which became the most expensive phone (RRP $2049.00) in Nokia's catalogue of cell phone models up until the newest generation of mobile phones. According to Nokia, the 8800's "sophisticated slide mechanism uses premium ball bearings crafted by the makers of bearings used in high performance cars".

it took a year and almost a year and half to release 8890 when 8810 first relased in other continents. It's about a year now since 8910 first released..we'll see what nokia decides to do ... besides SE, i think most cellphone companies have forgot the existence of north america. proof? just look at their product line. I just updated my profile...maybe that had something to do with it? Eh...no big deal...i was just asking about the 8900 series because i really want to get something similar to the 8890....just updated. I mean i can live without a color screen and all that other ish, but....the more the better, u know? My bad. I have been away from Nokia for a while But the timeline is still true, we did not see 8890 until a year or so later. And it was not even distributed through cingular, instead it was imported through grey market by smaller stores.
