Abm Mic 240
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The phrase "ABM MIC 240" refers to the MIC-240 Automatic Building Machine (ABM), also known as the "Super K-Span." It is a mobile, trailer-mounted "factory on wheels" that rolls and curves steel coils into structural building panels for rapid construction Pro-RollformingmachineArchive.
Product Overview
The MIC-240 is manufactured by MIC Industries, which holds the worldwide trademark for this technology Micindustries. It is designed to construct "clear-span" arch structures without internal columns or beams.
* Technical Highlights: It can produce a 24-inch (610 mm) wide panel from a 36-inch (910 mm) wide steel coil, supporting building spans from 48 to 120 feet Archive.
* Production Speed: A trained crew can construct up to 10,000 square feet per day, with the machine forming panels at 60 linear feet per minute Archive.
* Applications: Extensively used by military units (e.g., Navy Seabees) for rapid hangars and storage, as well as in agriculture (grain storage) and industrial warehousing Archive.
Market Trends & Insights
The market for these machines is defined by a shift toward mobile, rapid-deployment construction to reduce logistical costs and labor AlibabaArchive.
* Cost Efficiency: K-Span buildings are typically 30-40% cheaper than traditional pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) due to lower material and shipping requirements Archive.
* Global Expansion: While MIC Industries is the primary US manufacturer, there is a growing market for similar "K-Span" type roll-forming machines from manufacturers in China (e.g., Yingkou Longshun), targeted at cost-sensitive commercial and infrastructure projects in developing regions AlibabaAlibaba.
* Military Dominance: The MIC-240 remains the gold standard for rapid-response infrastructure, particularly for remote sites where shipping pre-fabricated parts is impossible Archive.
