Astro A50 X Review - RTINGS.com

The Astro A50 X are the next generation of the Astro A50 Gen 4, Astro's flagship gaming headphones. While adopting a similar design to their predecessor, this latest iteration comes with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a top-of-the-line wireless gaming headset and some additions that set them apart from the competition. The Astro A50 X are better overall gaming headphones than the Astro A50 Gen 4. The new version introduces more connectivity options via the base station, with USB-C and HDMI 2.1 inputs and the option to switch between different gaming systems and charge the headphones. While both headsets are similarly comfortable and well-built, the newer version's companion software is more reliable. The Astro A50 X and the Audeze Maxwell are both very good gaming headsets with different strengths that might suit your needs better. The Astro have more connectivity options via their base station, with plenty of USB-C inputs and the capability for HDMI passthrough with their three 2.1 inputs. Consider a review of how you calculate a battery life rating for devices with different connection types (or potentially some major advertised features) where there can be significant differences in battery life for “normal” or “expected” usage. I’m only harping on this so much because if you look at the comparison between the Steelseries Nova 7 and Astro A50x the battery life estimates are incredibly misleading compared to what customers will actually experience with these headsets.

Astro A50 (Gen 5, 2025) review: The king of convenience returns ...

While there are a couple of compromises, few other headsets on the market are as convenient as this all-rounder for heavy multi-platform gamers. I'm an avowed Astro A50 fan, having used every iteration of the headset since its inception. I was excited to finally try out the Astro A50 (Gen 5) for this review. The headset was launched in September 2024. I am an avowed Astro A50 stan and have been using them for years, going through every headset's iteration. This latest version is the culmination of everything Astro has learned, doubling down on its strengths in convenience and versatility. Boosted battery life, flawless signal mixing, superb charge dock, and maximum comfort standards return, but the sound experience could be a little better at this price point. It's not bad by any means, but don't expect a particularly mind-blowing experience. The very minor trade-offs will be way worth it for multi-platform gamers who favor convenience and versatility above everything else. The Astro A50 is a headset that absolutely knows who it's for and ultimately delivers.

The Astro A50 X is a wireless over-ear (circumaural) gaming headset designed for multi-device use — it comes with a powered base station that acts as a wireless charging dock and can connect to your PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox at the same time. It's a great-sounding headset, thanks to Logitech's 40mm Pro-G graphene drivers, and the multi-device situation works seamlessly, but it's pricey for something you can only use in one place — it retails for $400, and even its current sale price of $350 is still far above that of most premium gaming headsets. The headset comes with a few accessories in the box: the wireless base station, a 6-foot (1.8m) USB-C to USB-A cable, a 6.5-foot (2m) dual USB-C to USB-A / USB-C to power cable, and four plug attachments for the power cable. The A50 X has a slightly bass-heavy sound profile, which can be tweaked in Logitech's G Hub companion software. Despite being slightly bass-heavy, I wouldn't say the bass was impressively powerful — it was loud without being muddy, but it lacked the lower-range power you'll get in headsets with a wider frequency range, such as the

Astro A50 X review - near-perfect multi-platform audio | TechRadar

If you have $379.99 / £359 / AU$749.95 to spend on a high-end wireless gaming headset, then the Astro A50 X is a fantastic choice. This is a supremely comfortable peripheral, with a lightweight headband and gorgeous plush ear cups that make it an absolute joy to wear over extended gaming sessions. It also offers by far the best audio quality of any of the wireless gaming headsets that I have ever tested, with rich bass, crystal clear mids, and dazzling high-end frequencies that are a perfect match for almost any game. Small metal contacts are present on the bottom of each ear cup, which enables the Astro A50 X to dock into its included base station. This is a convenient storage solution that means the headset can be charged between uses, though the roughly 24-hour battery life means that you're well covered by a full charge. The base station has a good level of heft to it, just weighty enough to avoid slipping around on a surface but not too heavy to reposition easily if needed. It’s also a relatively compact size, with an overall width that’s about equal to the width of the headset itself.
