Asus Pegasus
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The phrase "ASUS Pegasus" refers to a specialized smartphone series produced by ASUS, primarily targeted at the Chinese market between 2014 and 2018. The name is deeply symbolic for the company, as "ASUS" is actually derived from the last four letters of Pegasus, representing strength and creative spirit AsusMonitornerds.
1. Product Overview & Key Models
The Pegasus series was positioned as a budget-to-mid-range line designed to compete with domestic Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Huawei. It eventually transitioned under the global ZenFone branding.
* ASUS Pegasus (X002): Launched in late 2014, it was a budget 4G device (5-inch 720p display) known for its "SmartLauncher" which integrated Chinese services GsmarenaUbergizmo.
* ASUS Pegasus 2 Plus (X550): A mid-range "phablet" (5.5-inch 1080p display) released in 2015, featuring a Snapdragon 615 processor Gsmarena.
* ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 4S: The most modern model in the series (released 2017), it adopted the 18:9 aspect ratio and featured a large 4130 mAh battery Devicespecifications.
2. Market Trends & Insights
* Regional Strategy: The series was a localized effort for China, often carrier-locked (e.g., China Telecom) and featuring software tailored for the Chinese ecosystem Gsmarena.
* Phase-Out: Following 2018, ASUS consolidated its mobile strategy to focus on the premium ZenFone series and the gaming-centric ROG Phone lines. The "Pegasus" name has largely disappeared from the new product roadmap Facebook.
* B2B/Supply Chain Status: Current B2B search results show that the Pegasus series has reached "legacy" status. While generic spare parts like LCD screens and batteries are still available from Chinese suppliers, dedicated new stock or wholesale refurbished units for this specific series are virtually non-existent in the 2024-2025 market .
3. Brand Legacy
The Pegasus name remains central to ASUS's corporate identity. The company continues to use the mythological horse as inspiration for its design values across monitors, accessories, and store branding (e.g., "ASUS Pegasus Stores" in India) IndianretailerMonitornerds.
The ASUS Pegasus series is largely a legacy product line today. You can continue by:

I believe I've figured out this one, as well. You were correct and it *is* all to do with Asus SmartLauncher. to all of you who have this phone, its default system launcher is chinese and you can't change it. the best option is to download the zenui launcher which is from the same manufacturer - asus, and your phone will work without any problems.
