PS3 Battery Replacement Guide: Capacity, Stability & Sourcing

I have research the current market trends and product insights for PS3 controller batteries (LIP1359).

The market is currently driven by retro-gaming preservation, with a significant shift toward aftermarket replacements as original Sony DualShock 3 batteries age out. A key insight for buyers is the prevalence of capacity inflation: most batteries labeled as "1800mAh" typically test at 600–700mAh, which matches the original OEM performance rather than exceeding it. High-demand features include stability during vibration (rumble) and the prevention of "ghosting" (random inputs) caused by voltage drops.

Commonly recommended brands in the enthusiast community include Batmax and Insten, while B2B sourcing data highlights several high-volume manufacturers in Shenzhen offering competitive pricing for bulk replacement kits.

The detailed market insight report below covers capacity benchmarks, top suppliers, and emerging enthusiast trends like USB-C modding.
