The phrase "Cameroon cable" primarily refers to two distinct sectors: local manufacturing of electrical infrastructure (led by Everwell Engineering) and strategic submarine telecommunications connectivity (managed by CAMTEL).

1. Key Product Segments

* Electrical & Infrastructure: Cameroon has a robust domestic manufacturing capability via Everwell Cameroon Cables and Engineering S.A., located in the Douala industrial zone. Their product line includes low/medium voltage residential and industrial cables, steel electric poles, and various electrical accessories Everwell-Engineering.

* Telecommunications: The term often references the South Atlantic Inter Link (SAIL), a 6,000 km submarine cable connecting Cameroon to Brazil. It provides a direct 32-Terabit link between Africa and South America Businessincameroon Subtelforum. Other systems include WACS, SAT-3, and the NCSCS link to Nigeria Submarinenetworks.

2. Market Trends & Insights

* Strategic Hub Potential: Cameroon is positioning itself as a digital and electrical hub for the CEMAC zone. Local manufacturing allows for reduced import dependency and regional export opportunities Everwell-Engineering.

* Underutilization Challenge: A critical market insight is the current 16% capacity utilization of CAMTEL’s submarine cables as of 2025. This is driven by high transit costs and low local internet penetration, posing risks to the return on investment for large-scale infrastructure Businessincameroon Ecofinagency.

* Connectivity Shift: While 83% of African traffic historically routed through Europe, the SAIL cable represents a shift toward direct transatlantic routing, though its full commercial potential is yet to be realized Mobileeurope.

3. Supplier Landscape

While B2B platforms like Alibaba primarily list international manufacturers (mostly from China) with high transaction volumes for telecommunications cables Alibaba Alibaba, the core local manufacturer for physical electrical cables within Cameroon remains Everwell Engineering.

I have compiled lists of B2B products and suppliers related to this sector for your reference.

I can further refine the market analysis for specific cable types or generate inquiry emails to the identified manufacturers.
