Clevo P170HM Upgrade Guide for Enthusiasts

The Clevo P170HM has transitioned from a high-end desktop replacement to a cult classic enthusiast platform in 2026. While its raw performance is dated, its unique modular design—featuring a socketed CPU and an MXM 3.0 Type B GPU slot—makes it a prime candidate for hobbyist "max-out" projects.

Key insights from the current market analysis include:

* Upgrade Ceiling: The machine is limited to the Nvidia GTX 980M as its top-tier GPU upgrade due to its legacy (non-UEFI) BIOS.

* Enthusiast Demand: There is a high volume of search interest for modular gaming laptops in early 2026, driving the value of well-maintained P170HM chassis.

* Parts Ecosystem: While the laptops themselves are rare, a robust B2B supply chain still exists for replacement batteries, keyboards, and 220W power adapters.
