Control 24 Used
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The market for the Digidesign/Focusrite Control 24 has transitioned into a specialized niche for legacy studio owners and budget-conscious professionals looking for high-quality tactile control. While officially discontinued, the phrase 'control 24 used' highlights a resilient demand driven by the console's 16 Focusrite preamps and 24 motorized faders Soundonsound.
Market Trends & Pricing (2024–2026)
* Resale Value: Units typically trade between $600 and $1,200, with mint-condition or PSU-upgraded units fetching up to $1,500+ Neyrinck.
* The "Neyrinck" Factor: The console's survival depends almost entirely on the Neyrinck V-Control Pro software, which bridges the legacy Ethernet protocol to modern Pro Tools (2024.x/2026.x) via HUI emulation Neyrinck.
* Maintenance Concerns: The primary market risk is the failing internal power supply (PSU). Units sold "as-is" or "for parts" appear frequently at $300–$500, while serviced units maintain a premium RedditNeyrinck.
Winning Product Opportunities
- 1PSU Upgrade Kits: There is a consistent demand for modern replacement power supplies (e.g., SkunkRay) that solve the reliability issues of the original hardware.
- 2Argosy/Custom Furniture: Used studio desks specifically cut for the Control 24 footprint often hold significant secondary value, sometimes exceeding the value of the console itself Reverb.
- 3Modern Alternatives: For those moving away from legacy hardware, the Behringer Wing and Avid S1/S3 have become the dominant "winning" products in the 24-fader mid-tier market .
