Daydream Controller
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The Google Daydream controller and platform are officially obsolete as of 2026, with official support having ended in 2020. The market has shifted toward standalone VR headsets, though a niche enthusiast community still uses the hardware as a high-quality "Google Cardboard" viewer.
Key findings include:
- Discontinued Support: The platform is no longer supported by Google and has significant compatibility issues with Android 11+ devices.
- Niche Utility: Residual use is limited to simple 360-degree media consumption and community-led open-source projects.
- Market Shift: Sourcing now focuses on generic 3DoF Bluetooth controllers rather than official Daydream-branded hardware, with active suppliers still operating in Shenzhen.
