The "designed network cards" market is currently undergoing a significant transition from standard connectivity components to highly specialized, programmable processing units (DPUs/SmartNICs). Driven by the explosion of AI model training and data center optimization, the market is projected to reach $11.86 billion by 2035, with the AI-specific NIC segment growing at a rapid 13.69% CAGR Marketresearchfuture 360Iresearch.

Key Market & Product Trends

* AI-Optimized Fabrics: The shift toward "tightly coordinated fabrics" for AI servers has made features like RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) and congestion management mandatory for high-performance model training 360Iresearch.

* Hardware Offloading (DPUs): Modern "designed" cards, such as the BlueField-3 DPU , now offload networking, security, and storage tasks from the CPU to the card itself, acting as a dedicated data-path processor Marketresearchfuture.

* Thermal Design Evolution: With increased throughput (up to 400GbE), passive cooling with large integrated heatsinks has become a critical design aesthetic and functional requirement for internal server cards .

* Miniaturization for IoT: There is a rising demand for integrated modules using M.2 or MiniPCIe interfaces , focusing on low power consumption for industrial machines and mini PCs Researchandmarkets.

Competitive Landscape Highlights

* NVIDIA & Broadcom are dominating the high-speed (100Gbps+) segment with their DPU and SmartNIC portfolios Marketresearchfuture.

* Customization Focus: Manufacturers are increasingly offering specialized "Secure NICs" with hardware-level security protocols to counter sophisticated cyberattacks Marketresearchfuture.
