Fitbit Altas
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The Fitbit Alta series (Alta and Alta HR) was a landmark in slim fitness tracking, officially discontinued in March 2019 and replaced by the Inspire line Wikipedia.
In the 2026 market, the Alta HR maintains a niche, loyal following among "minimalists" who prefer its ultra-slim profile over modern trackers like the Charge 6, which many find too bulky Reddit. While legacy Alta units are still functional and traded for $15–$25 on the secondary market, they lack modern health sensors like SpO2 and ECG found in current models WikipediaBusinessinsider. The modern market has largely transitioned to the Inspire 3 (best budget pick at $79–$99) and the newly released Fitbit Air, a screenless AI-driven tracker that fulfills the Alta's original design philosophy for 2026 WomanandhomeBusinessinsiderWikipedia.
The report below provides a full breakdown of the Alta's history, current user sentiment, and a comparison with 2026's best fitness trackers.
