Fortigate 200b
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The FortiGate 200B is a legacy enterprise firewall that has reached its End of Service Life (EOSL). Current market trends for 2026 indicate a massive infrastructure refresh cycle as organizations move away from these older appliances toward AI-driven, high-throughput security solutions.
1. Product Lifecycle Status
The FortiGate 200B reached the end of its lifecycle several years ago, making it a liability for modern network security due to a lack of updates Router-SwitchLayer23-Switch:
* End of Sale (EOS): April 1, 2015
* End of Service Life (EOSL): April 1, 2020
* Current Risk: Devices still in operation no longer receive security patches, firmware updates, or technical support from Fortinet, leaving them vulnerable to modern threats.
2. Market Trends & Insights (2026)
The security hardware market in 2026 is defined by several key shifts that directly impact legacy users InfotechleadYahoo:
* The "Great Refresh": A significant peak in firewall replacements is expected in 2025–2026 as 4-to-5-year hardware cycles expire across the global install base.
* AI-Powered SecOps: Modern replacements (like the FortiGate 200F) now utilize AI and machine learning for automated threat detection, a feature entirely absent in the 200B era.
* Unified SASE Integration: Market demand has shifted toward vendors that can integrate SD-WAN and cloud security into a single management console, driving the retirement of standalone legacy appliances.
3. Modern Replacement Options
For users of the 200B, the current market standard is the FortiGate 200F series, which offers exponential increases in SSL inspection and threat protection throughput. Current market pricing for the 200F/201F ranges from approximately $2,950 to $3,650 depending on the specific model and license bundles.
