The phrase 'Fuji D700' (also known as the Fujifilm Frontier-S DX100) refers to a professional-grade compact dry lab inkjet printer that revolutionized event and studio photography. In 2026, the market for the D700 has transitioned into a "legacy high-demand" phase, where the original unit is discontinued but remains a cornerstone of the secondary market due to its robust print quality and the availability of replacement parts Fujifilm Desktopdarkroom.

Market Trends & Insights (2026)

1Transition to Successor Models: The official replacement for the D700 is the Frontier DX400W, which introduces double-sided (duplex) printing and improved wireless networking capabilities Thecannatareport Fujifilm. The DE100 also competes in this space, offering slightly faster speeds (~8.1s per 4x6) Alibaba.
2Refurbished Market Resilience: Because the D700 and its twin, the Epson SureLab D700, share common architecture, refurbished units are highly active. Current prices for 95% new or refurbished D700 units range from $650 to $685, significantly lower than the $5,000+ entry price for the new DX400W .
3High-Volume Maintenance Cycle: The most significant market trend for current owners is the focus on printhead replacement. The FA17000 printhead is a high-turnover part, with prices stabilizing around $195–$210 per unit for original Japanese replacements .
4Dye-Sublimation vs. Inkjet: While dye-sublimation printers (like DNP models) are growing in the portable event space, the D700 remains the preferred choice for photographers requiring fine-art matte finishes and archival longevity Dnpphoto Dpreview.
