Gauss Speakers
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The 'Gauss' brand, originally a powerhouse in the 1970s and 80s, has evolved into a high-value niche in the current audio market. While the original Cetec Gauss is a legacy brand prized by collectors for its "bulletproof" engineering and unique double-spider drivers, the name has been successfully revived by Avantone Pro through their Gauss-7 studio monitors. These modern units combine the brand's legendary "transient snap" with contemporary Air Motion Transformer (AMT) technology. In the collector market, original 15-inch drivers like the Gauss 4580 remain highly sought after, with values peaking for units that retain their original factory cones.
I have compiled a detailed market research report covering the product history, the modern Avantone revival, and current resale price trends for collectors. The report also highlights sourcing alternatives for components like AMT tweeters and professional drivers.
