The Gionee M6 Plus, released in July 2016, remains a notable legacy device primarily due to its massive 6020 mAh battery, which was industry-leading at its launch. However, the product and brand are currently in a state of post-bankruptcy "zombie" existence.

Product Insights: Gionee M6 Plus

The M6 Plus was a flagship in Gionee's "Marathon" series, designed for long endurance and security.

* Key Specs: Features a 6.0-inch AMOLED display, MediaTek Helio P10 chipset, 4GB RAM, and up to 128GB storage. Its standout feature is the 6020 mAh battery with fast and reverse charging capabilities.

* Availability: New units are virtually non-existent in the primary market. On B2B platforms like Alibaba, search results yield only replacement parts (LCD screens and batteries) rather than the handset itself.

* Maintenance: Replacement screens are priced between $6.74–$30, and compatible batteries range from $2.76–$3.99 Alibaba Alibaba.

Market Trends & Brand Status (2026)

The brand Gionee has transitioned from a top-tier global player to a cautionary tale of leadership failure.

* Bankruptcy & Gambling Scandal: The brand effectively collapsed in late 2018 after Chairman Liu Lirong admitted to losing approximately $144 million (CNY 1 billion) of company funds in a casino Tracxn.

* Current Standing: While Gionee India Private Limited remains "Active" as a legal entity, its revenue has plummeted to less than ₹10 Cr (approx. $1.2M USD) annually Tracxn. The brand name is now largely licensed out for low-end, sporadic releases that lack the original "Marathon" engineering.

* Consumer Sentiment: Sentiment is heavily negative due to a lack of after-sales service, difficulty finding genuine parts, and a 2020 scandal involving pre-installed malware on over 20 million handsets Facebook.

Sourcing Outlook

For B2B buyers, the Gionee M6 Plus represents a niche repair market rather than a viable inventory item. The focus has shifted to emerging markets (like Nigeria and Oman) where older units are still in circulation and require battery or screen replacements.
