Just like 4K, 8K is also currently one of the newest forms of high-technology; and the TVs are very expensive. Just like HD and 4K, 8K’s image quality is clear and sharp. 8K is said to be 4 times bigger than 4K, and 16 times bigger than a Full High Definition Television. The “K” in 8K means “Kilo,” which is “1000,” thus giving the 8K resolution width of approximately 8000 pixels. 4K’s image quality is clear and sharp just like HD and 8K. Also, the 4KTV is expensive, but however the costs are lowering down as a lot of people are buying it. There are some movies and TV shows today that are available in 4K, but not every movie and TV show is available in 4K format as these types of technologies are expensive. The “K” in 4K means “Kilo,” which is “1000,” thus giving the 4K resolution width of approximately 4000 pixels. You can see high definition anywhere, such as live-action movies, animated movies, live-action TV shows, animated TV shows, video games, advertisements, apps, etc.; even you can also see and find HD on websites like YouTube. YouTube displays only 720p and/or 1080p (not all videos display the HD format). The format that displays 1280x720 is the 720p format. The 720p format is a lower form of high definition, and is called “HD Ready.” The formats that displays 1920x1080 pixels are 1080i and 1080p formats. ↑ "Low Definition Tv | Digital Television | Television". HD versus LD | DIRECTV Community Forums

I love the fact that I can set the HD/DVR in advance to tape programs so I can watch another but THERE IS A PROBLEM!!!! I would like to replace my HD box with a LD box due to the fact THAT THERE ARE CHANNELS WHICH ARE ADVERTISED AS HD BUT ARE REALLY LD AND I HAVE TO INDURE 15 TO 30 MINUTES OF PIXELATION OF THE SHOW AND SOUND BEFORE IT SHOWS 'SWITCH TO LD'. Since I will be PAYING THE SAME THING I want the LD box back so I will not have this problem. I can purchase a DVR at the store to record for a CHEAPER PRICE and be able to watch what I want while recording, in theory, it may not work out that way but at least there will not be ANY PIXELATION on the recording ... DTV is shutting down the SD MPEG2 channels so there are no more SD boxes being activated. Any remaining SD channels will be on the MPEG4 HD sats. There is no "LD". I'm guessing you are saying "Low Definition". It is labeled as Standard Definition (SD).' You cannot get any SD boxes anymore. They stopped offering them in late 2015 when SD-only service was grandfathered. Now DirecTV is completing the MPEG-2/SD-only shutdown. You can go into your menu and set your box to "Hide HD Channels" or "Show All Channels" so that you see both the SD and HD versions in the guide. But SD-only is going away. Eventually it is expected that the SD versions on the MPEG-4 feed would go away as well. Non-HD TVs haven't been made in over a decade.

What is dtv/ld input??? | AVS Forum

I have a RX-V1000 with two component inputs (dvd and dtv/ld) and one component output (currently going to my PJ). I've tried hooking up the dvd player to the dtv/ld input but nothing happens. I want to use this input for an x-box if I can. Q: Why can't I connect a dvd or x-box to this input? You did set the source to dtv/ld, right? (unless it means that there are separate sources for DTV and LD, and it can be assigned... I don't have the receiver so I'm not sure) btw, it stands for Digital TV/Laserdisc Quote PF: "can't see why it was blank given that it could only be the dtv/ld - right?). " Actually, since the input is assignable, you can connect to it anything that outputs a component signal that you might care to: HD tuner, Tivo, or, as you've discovered, your X-Box. I thought the original question was what is the ld/dtv input because my first generation pineer receiver with an ac3 decoder had the same type of labeled input which was made for laser disc players , and with my old unit for some reason only worked with my old ld player go figure. ... Well, Dave you were indeed correct. Thank guys for your interest and support. My mistake was the input selection in the menu, an area that I did not know existed - the i/o assignment (now its clear that that means input/output...oops).

Low-definition television - Wikipedia

Low-definition television (LDTV) refers to TV systems that have a lower screen resolution than standard-definition television systems. The term is usually used in reference to digital television, in particular when broadcasting at the same (or similar) resolution as low-definition analog television systems. Sources of LDTV using standard broadcasting techniques include mobile TV services powered by DVB-H, 1seg, DMB, or ATSC-M/H. However, this kind of LDTV transmission technology is based on existing LDTV teleconferencing standards that have been in place since the late 1990s. The Video CD format uses a progressive scan LDTV signal (352×240 or 352×288), which is half the vertical and horizontal resolution of full-bandwidth SDTV. However, most players will internally upscale VCD material to 480/576 lines for playback, as this is both more widely compatible and gives a better overall appearance. There appears to be no flickering compared to the interlace mode, since each point on the screen is radiated every 1/60th of a second. ↑ Hinner, Martin. "PAL video timing specification".
