Hp Laserjet 9040 Printer

The HP LaserJet 9040 series is currently in a legacy market phase, characterized by a high demand for refurbished units and a shift toward modern enterprise successors like the M806 series. While it remains a durable "workhorse" for A3 monochrome printing, its market relevance is now sustained primarily through government contracts and the secondary resale market.

Product Overview & Legacy Status

* Target Use Case: High-volume workgroups (20+ users) requiring wide-format (A3) monochrome printing with a heavy duty cycle of up to 300,000 pages per month. Jarcomputers

* Successor: The direct modern equivalent is the HP LaserJet Enterprise M806dn, which offers faster speeds (56 ppm vs 40 ppm) and superior security features. Jarcomputers

* Availability: New units are extremely rare, with current listings primarily featuring remanufactured or refurbished units ranging from $599 to $1,500 depending on the configuration (e.g., 9040n vs 9040dn). GoogleGoogle

Market Trends & Insights

* Refurbishment Dominance: There is a significant secondary market for this model due to its high reliability. Refurbished units often include 1–3 year extended warranties to appeal to budget-conscious enterprise buyers. GoogleGoogle

* Shift to Managed Print Services (MPS): Modern enterprise trends favor devices with self-healing security and cloud-integrated workflows (e.g., NFC touch-to-print and mobile management), which the 9040 lacks. Jarcomputers

* B2B Supply Chain: Wholesale availability on platforms like Alibaba.com is now focused on modern enterprise MFPs (like the M631dn) or refurbished M806dn units, with few suppliers maintaining stock of the 9040 itself. AlibabaAlibaba
