The HP OfficeJet 4650 is currently a legacy product in the inkjet market, having transitioned from a popular home-office staple to a primarily secondary-market item. Market interest has declined significantly, with search popularity dropping from a peak index of 91 in 2020 to approximately 14 by late 2026 .

Market Trends & Availability

* Pricing & Channels: New units are virtually non-existent at major retailers. Availability is concentrated on platforms like eBay and Mercari, where used or refurbished units range from $46 to $155 .

* B2B Shift: Wholesale availability for the specific 4650 model is scarce. Sourcing has shifted toward newer HP Smart Tank and OfficeJet Pro series, which offer modernized features like high-capacity ink tanks and faster print speeds .

Product Insights

* Core Capabilities: The printer remains valued for its 35-sheet ADF and automatic duplex printing, features often missing in current entry-level budget printers .

* Software Status: HP still provides driver support via the HP Smart App for Windows 11 and macOS, though hardware is largely out of warranty .

* User Pain Points: The most significant ongoing issue is the high cost of tri-color ink cartridges (HP 63) for users not enrolled in HP Instant Ink. Connectivity stability and slower print speeds compared to modern standards are also frequently cited .
