Ltd. is on a roll these days and the threat it poses to incumbent equipment vendors is clear from the latest analyst figures. In the battle for market share, Huawei is rapidly closing in on vendors like Alcatel (NYSE: ALA; Paris: CGEP:PA), the long-time DSLAM equipment leader. In its "Broadband Quarterly Shipments Analysis," Dittberner Associates Inc. reports Huawei’s DSLAM port shipments increased during the first quarter by 21.77 percent compared with the fourth quarter of last year, despite the overall market remaining flat. Huawei makes RAN gains in several global regions

www.telecoms.com

Huawei increased its market share and made gains across Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America last year, according to Omdia’s latest RAN report. By contrast, MEA includes many operators that are earlier in their 5G cycle, and demand is strong as many of those markets are still building out network coverage and capacity, with some are seeing continuous growth in subscribers and traffic. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa are key contributors to this trend, and on top of this 2024 was not a strong year for the region, which gives a more favourable point of comparison, we understand. In terms of outlook, in 2026 the analyst expects the global RAN market excluding China to grow slightly compared to 2025, while investment in China continue to slow down. It is further noted that while the YoY trend was negative, China is the largest market in the world, and while investment may have slowed, it was still happening, particularly in 5G-Advanced deployments. It describes the market as essentially flat YoY with single digit growth for the global market excluding China. Huawei gained significant market share in 2025 compared to 2024 (>1pp) thanks to a more favourable regional mix as well as market share gains in emerging markets.
