Huawei F685
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The Huawei F685 is a legacy 3G DECT fixed wireless cordless phone that acts as a bridge between traditional landline ergonomics and cellular connectivity. As of late 2026, the product has reached its End-of-Life (EOL) phase and is no longer in active production, primarily due to the global phase-out of 3G networks.
Product Overview & Key Features
The F685 was designed for households and small businesses needing a "landline" experience without physical copper-wire infrastructure. MobosdataT-Elek
* DECT Integration: Unique for its ability to link up to six cordless handsets to a single base station gateway. MobosdataGlobalsources
* 3G Connectivity: Operates on WCDMA 900/2100MHz, which is now largely obsolete in markets with 4G/5G maturity. Mobosdata
* Professional Features: Supports internal intercom, call transfer between handsets, and SMS memory for up to 500 messages. GlobalsourcesVastenmobiel
Market Trends & Insights (2025–2026)
The market for fixed wireless terminals (FWT) has shifted significantly toward 4G LTE and VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technologies. HuaweiCounterpointresearch
* Obsolescence Risk: Most carriers have decommissioned the 3G bands required by the F685, leading to "No Service" issues in North America, Europe, and parts of Asia.
* Transition to 4G: Successors like the Huawei F617 (4G) or ZTE VoLTE models have replaced the F685 to ensure compatibility with modern high-definition voice standards.
* Consumer Sentiment: Recent user feedback indicates that while the DECT multi-handset feature remains highly valued, the device is now primarily relegated to second-hand markets or regions where 3G infrastructure persists. HuaweicentralYoutube
