Often in their history, the rumors fly that Kenwood is leaving the amateur market, right before they drop exciting kit... Seriously, they make Apple's corporate secrecy look like a bunch of gossip queens. Yet: Kenwood has been rumored to be telling distributors to expect an announcement in 2023-2024... You are attempting to compare apples and oranges. The IC-705 cannot be compared to the 7300. One is a QRP radio with VHF/UHF the other is an HF only 100W radio. The 7300 design is only about 6 years old. It is such a great radio and a hot seller that I doubt ICOM is ready to replace it yet.
