NVIDIA InfiniBand Switches and Adapters Guide

The NVIDIA InfiniBand market is currently in a high-growth phase, projected to grow from $25.7 billion in 2025 to $127 billion by 2030 (37.6% CAGR) Introl. The dominant trend in 2026 is the rapid transition from NDR (400Gb/s) to XDR (800Gb/s) networking to support Blackwell-generation AI clusters Fibermall Introl.

Market Trends & Insights

* Dominance in Large Clusters: InfiniBand holds over 80% market share for AI back-end networks, preferred for zetta-scale clusters like xAI’s Colossus (100,000 GPUs) due to its ultra-low latency and superior congestion control Introl.

* Ethernet Competition: While Ethernet is surging in "scale-out" networks for smaller clusters (256–1,024 GPUs) due to lower costs, InfiniBand remains the industry standard for high-performance scale-up fabrics 650Group Introl.

* Technological Shift: The roadmap is moving toward GDR (1.6Tbps) and Silicon Photonics (Quantum-X Photonics) to address the extreme power and thermal demands of future AI models Introl.
