Posted by u/thismeatsucks - 171 votes and 52 comments Many sellers are not even aware that they are selling a fake product, although many of them are well aware & will block you as soon as you call them out on it. I’m not sure where they are all coming from but they are 100% fake. I have done a lot of research and provided the main differences between the real/fake models. The main and most notable sign that the speaker is fake is the JBL logo. All colour ways of the real speaker have an orange outline around the logo & said logo is an indented plastic piece that is fully attached to the unit. You can search for yourself on marketplace and find many without the orange outline. These are 100% fake. The sellers will argue with you, saying they bought them straight from JBL and will even have fake receipts sometimes, but they are 100% FAKE. The fake speakers will only connect to other fake speakers (via Bluetooth) but will NOT connect to a real JBL speaker (via PartyBoost) or the “JBL Portable” app. The audio quality is also a very obvious sign that the speaker is fake. Very low clarity and horrible low end.

If the price is too good to be true, it probably isn't real. ... I know the Clip 2 at least has the call buttons. Not sure about anything else. ... Fair, I forgot about the clip 2. The print contrast and quality of the print on the authentic speaker box is better than the counterfeit. The authentic speaker has a flushed power button in the center while counterfeits have a protruding power button. Authentic speakers have an Embedded logo within the speaker grill while counterfeits have a protruding logo on grill.
