The phrase 'Karma drohne' refers to the GoPro Karma, a foldable quadcopter released in 2016. While once a highly anticipated "all-in-one" solution for action videography, it has transitioned from a flagship product to a legacy device with a specialized aftermarket Videomaker Geoawesome.

Product Overview & Legacy Status

The Karma was designed as a modular ecosystem rather than just a drone. Its primary value was the integration of the HERO camera with a detachable 3-axis gimbal (Karma Grip) that could be used for handheld stabilized footage Videomaker Abekislevitz.

Current Status: Officially discontinued in early 2018. It entered End-of-Life (EOL) status in February 2021, meaning no further firmware updates or official software support are provided Gopro Geoawesome.
Key Features: Foldable design, built-in 720p controller screen (no phone needed), and automatic flight modes like "Dronie" and "Cable Cam" Videomaker Provideocoalition.

Market Trends & Insights

The Karma's failure serves as a case study in the competitive consumer drone market, which is now dominated by DJI and specialized B2B manufacturers.

Market Shift: The consumer drone market is projected to reach $21.7 billion by 2032, shifting toward AI-integrated obstacle avoidance and long-range transmission—features the Karma lacked compared to rivals like the DJI Mavic Pro Grandviewresearch Strategicmarketresearch.
Consumer Sentiment: While criticized for flight "drift" and connectivity issues, the Karma remains a "cult classic" for its versatility. Used units and parts are still traded by hobbyists who value the ability to swap cameras Reddit Reddit.
Aftermarket Trends: B2B listings now focus primarily on replacement parts (gimbals, arms, cables) for legacy models and third-party batteries, as official GoPro supplies have dwindled .

Sourcing Context

Current B2B availability is limited to specialized repair suppliers and manufacturers of generic compatible parts.

Replacement Parts: Suppliers in Shenzhen and HK continue to provide gimbal repair components and motor arms for various quadcopter series, though dedicated Karma-branded inventory is rare .
Alternative Solutions: Modern professional drones with 3-axis gimbals and 4K digital transmission, such as the AE60 series, have largely replaced the Karma's market segment at competitive price points ($280–$390) .
