Rather than having a separately mounted tweeter and midrange driver, the tweeter in a Uni-Q driver is set into the centre of the midrange. This allows for better time alignment and results in the more cohesive sound we hear from current KEF speakers. A simple idea – but it's what sets the company apart from the pack. And even those take several years to achieve. We are well past the point where we are making massive groundbreaking innovations in passive speaker design. Sure, there's definitely stuff that KEF can do. Maybe the next generation Blades or Reference line with use a beryllium or lithium-magnesium tweeter. And speaking of soundbars, KEF's passive soundbars like the HTF8003 are still some of the best passive soundbars on the market. But they're 15 years old and desperately need to be updated to account for modern TVs and KEF's driver innovations.
