After 4 years of using my PW5 there is a slight increase of battery consumption. If I had to quantify it, maybe I have an hour less battery life than I had when it was new. EU regulations. it's a big possibility. Kindles are not really easy repairable, especially replacing battery, which will be a new EU requirement. So a hardware re-design will be forced basically. ... It wouldn't apply to already existing and selling models on the market though. As long as it hits that 80% charge after 1000 cycles, yes.
