Market Trends & Insights (2026)

* Stabilized "Value Floor": Refurbished pricing for standard i5 models has leveled off at approximately $200–$250 (₹20,000–₹24,000), while "fully loaded" i7 units with 32GB RAM can still command $320–$360 due to their role as reliable Linux-based workstations. Refurbo Alibaba

* The "Final Upgradable" Appeal: Consumer demand is driven by the T480 being the last T-series model to feature two non-soldered RAM slots (supporting up to 64GB) and a hot-swappable external battery, a feature set that remains unmatched in modern 2026 ultrabooks. Reddit Pcvarge

* Platform Longevity: With Windows 10 support retired, there is a significant 2026 trend of users transitioning these machines to Linux (e.g., Linux Mint), which reduces RAM overhead by nearly 75% compared to Windows 11, effectively future-proofing the 8th-gen Intel processors. Alibaba

Technical Evaluation

* Common Issues: Potential buyers must verify Thunderbolt firmware updates (BIOS v1.41+ is critical) to prevent port failure and check for thermal throttling in i7 models, which often requires repasting every few years. Reddit Alibaba

* Recommended Upgrades: Top 2026 performance modifications include swapping the 768p screen for a 400-nit Low Power FHD panel and adding a 72Wh "slice" battery for a real-world runtime of up to 24 hours. Alibaba Reddit
