LG TV IR Code Guide for Universal Remotes

The phrase 'LG TV IR code' represents a critical technical bridge between legacy infrared control and the modern smart home ecosystem. While newer LG Magic Remotes use Bluetooth for voice and pointers, they still rely on a specific NEC-based IR protocol for core power and volume functions to ensure universal compatibility.

Technical Insights: LG IR Architecture

LG TVs primarily use the NEC transmission protocol with a custom carrier frequency of 37.917 kHz Lge Webfronts. Most universal remotes and DIY smart home controllers (like Arduino or ESP32) utilize the LG custom code 0x20DF as a prefix for function-specific hex commands.

Function	Command Code (Hex)	Full IR Hex String (Example)
Power Toggle	`08`	`0x20DF08F7`
Volume Up / Down	`02 / 03`	`0x20DF40BF / 0x20DFC03F`
Input / Source	`0B`	`0x20DFD02F`
Mute	`09`	`0x20DF906F`

Market Trends & Insights (2024–2026)

The universal remote market is evolving from simple IR "zappers" to integrated smart hubs, with a projected value of $4.8 billion by 2030 Strategicmarketresearch.

* Hybrid Connectivity: There is a strong shift toward "Hybrid" remotes that combine IR (for power), Bluetooth (for voice), and WiFi/Matter (for multi-brand ecosystem control) Strategicmarketresearch.

* The "Magic" Standard: For LG, the MR24 and MR22 Magic Remotes remain the market standard, with massive wholesale demand for "Voice + Pointer" replacements as consumers move away from basic IR-only models Taobao.

* Sustainability: Leading brands are pivoting toward solar-powered and USB-C rechargeable remotes to reduce battery waste Strategicmarketresearch.

* Smart IR Hubs: A rising segment is the Tuya-powered WiFi-to-IR hub, which allows users to control legacy LG TVs via Alexa or Google Home for under $8.00 at wholesale Alibaba.
