Lga1700 Processors
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
LGA1700 processors are currently transitioning from a cutting-edge platform to the "mature value" standard in the 2026 hardware market. While Intel has introduced the LGA1851 socket for its Core Ultra 200 (Arrow Lake) series, LGA1700 remains highly relevant due to its extensive motherboard ecosystem and unique upcoming processor releases.
Market Trends & Lifecycle Extension
- Bartlett Lake-S (2025 Release): Intel is extending LGA1700's lifespan through 2026 with "Bartlett Lake-S" silicon, slated for Q3 2025. These processors will feature P-core only designs (up to 12 Performance cores for Core 9), catering to gamers and workstation users who prefer monolithic performance over hybrid architectures Techpowerup.
- Pricing Shifts: The platform has become significantly more affordable. High-end Z790 motherboards saw a price drop of 27.5% throughout 2025, with average costs falling from ~€303 to €220 Hitech-Gamer.
- DDR4 Longevity: LGA1700 remains the primary choice for budget builders who wish to utilize DDR4 memory, as the newer LGA1851 platform is strictly DDR5-exclusive EtechdevicesNewegg.
Product Insights & Performance
- Hybrid Efficiency: Current 13th and 14th Gen processors (e.g., Core i7-14700K) continue to lead the mid-to-high-end market by balancing Performance-cores and Efficient-cores for multi-threaded workloads Accio.
- Sourcing Dynamics: Wholesale markets show strong availability for bulk 14th Gen units, with Core i9-14900KF models ranging from $392 to $418 depending on order volume Alibaba.
- Future Outlook: While enthusiasts are moving toward LGA1851 or AMD’s AM5 for better future-proofing, LGA1700 is positioned as the "Strong Value" platform through 2026 due to its stable BIOS environment and lower entry costs EtechdevicesEvetech.

Why would someone build a New PC in 2025 using the LGA1700 platform?
www.reddit.com
I built my PC in March 2024, before all the issues with the 13th and 14th gen CPUs started blowing up online. I'm still using an i9-13900K, and I haven't had any problems so far, with around 7,500 hours of uptime. I also did the BIOS update back then, just to be safe. The thing with me is that I build a new PC every 10 to 12 years or so, so I don’t really care about upgrades in between or whether LGA1700 offers future upgrade paths. LGA1700 CPUs are also typically affordable enough to be attractive, and if one were to use DDR5 with it (although they can also use DDR4) that's one less future upgrade they'd have to do if they stick to another DDR5 platform such as LGA1851 or AM5. This is an argument which can also apply to AM4; the difference is LGA1700 gets a leg up with its ability to use DDR5. I just was wondering why people are building PC's in 2025 using a 14700K or 14600K when its not a savings is all.

In addition, the platforms differ technically: AM4 and part of the LGA1700 mainboards support DDR4, while AM5 works exclusively with DDR5. In terms of PCIe support, the range goes from PCIe 3.0/4.0 on AM4 to PCIe 4.0/5.0 on LGA1700 to standardized PCIe 5.0 on AM5. The decline is particularly noticeable on current platforms. AM5 mainboards with B650E chipset have become 24% cheaper, while Z790 boards for Intel's LGA1700 socket have even seen a price drop of 27.5%. This development shows that even modern high-end platforms have become noticeably more affordable. Answer: Whether gaming PCs became more expensive or cheaper in 2025 depends on which components are in focus. A system with a lot of storage (1–2 TB SSD, DDR5 RAM) clearly became more expensive due to the strong price increases in these areas. Systems based on modern AM5 or LGA1700, on the other hand, benefited from falling mainboard prices. In contrast, the high-end segment appears much more stable: 1 TB PCIe Gen5 SSDs only increased by 3%, which can be attributed to a combination of market establishment and increasing availability. This trend becomes even clearer with the 2 TB PCIe Gen5 models, which even recorded a price drop of 6%. Here, the scaling of the new Gen-5 controllers plays a decisive role, as higher capacities in the premium segment are becoming increasingly competitive.
Intel Planning P-core Only "Bartlett" LGA1700 Processor for 2025 ...

I would of course love it if Intel could actually include in-silicon fixes and improvements outside of the replacement of E-core clusters with P-cores. Just that the time of Q4-2024 or possibly even Q1 2025 seems a bit... moot? The only comforting thing is that LGA1700 is actually getting some side-grades even when we're into the next platform, sort-of AM4-esque. Just that the time of Q4-2024 or possibly even Q1 2025 seems a bit... moot? The only comforting thing is that LGA1700 is actually getting some side-grades even when we're into the next platform, sort-of AM4-esque.This had me thinking as well but to offer AL as a replacement will require a motherboard swap a new chip on same socket won't. If Intel is using "Raptor Cove" P-cores, these should be 8-core/16-thread, 10-core/20-thread, and 12-core/24-thread, respectively. Depending on the K- or non-K SKUs, these chips feature a processor base power value of 125 W, or 65 W, or even 45 W. Intel is planning to launch these non-Ultra Core Socket LGA1700 processors in Q1-2025, but the "Bartlett" silicon won't arrive before Q3-2025. Exciting! This will more likely be in Q4 of 2025 nonetheless exciting for new tech... ... Wait. A 12 core P-core only CPU? Can we reschedule that to like, next week? Also - the timing seems a little weird to me from a product stack standpoint. A new LGA1700 series after a refresh generation?
