The Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 is a legacy product that has transitioned from a mainstream peripheral to a niche, sought-after item for long-term loyalists. Below is a breakdown of its current product status and the broader market trends affecting it.

Product Insights: Logitech M505

* Lifecycle Status: The M505 is officially discontinued. It was initially succeeded by the Logitech M525, and later by the M510 Mac-Forums. As of 2026, the Logitech Signature M650 L is considered the most comparable modern spiritual successor in terms of ergonomic dimensions and grip style Reddit.

* Current Pricing: New-in-box units are rare and command high prices, often listed around $49.97 on resale platforms like eBay. Used or tested units typically range between $17.95 and $20.00 .

* Consumer Sentiment: Users remain loyal to the M505 for its laser-grade tracking and unique "bulbous" ergonomic shape, which many find superior to modern, lighter designs. A common pain point for users looking for replacements is the "hollow" or "too light" feel of newer models compared to the solid, weighted build of the M505 Reddit.

Market Trends (2025–2026)

* The Rise of "Silent" Technology: The market is rapidly shifting toward silent-click switches and Bluetooth 5.0 for multi-device connectivity, features absent in the original M505 Straitsresearch.

* Ergonomic Refinement: Modern successors like the Signature M650 now feature specific "SmartWheel" scrolling and size options (Small/Medium vs. Large) to better fit different hand sizes, a level of customization not available during the M505's era Pcmag.

* Demand for Longevity: Despite the move toward rechargeable batteries, there is a persistent "office classic" market segment (evidenced by the M505/M510 loyalty) that prefers AA battery-powered mice for their long shelf life (often 15–24 months) and immediate swap-and-go utility Reddit.
