Apple Mac Shipments Grew 9% in Q1 2026, Outpacing Overall PC Market ...

Jeezus -- Apple can't even manage to put an OLED display in a laptop in 2026 and when they finally get around to it, the price will be well north of $2K. I don’t think the average consumer cares if their laptop has OLED. ... Better tell Apple QUICK! Maybe they'll cancel their research and production of OLED panels based on your opinion! 🤣 Based on total sales figures, the average consumer prefers a PC. Gotta make sure the spec sheet has all the trendy acronyms! Apple also refreshed the MacBook Air and the higher-end ‌MacBook Pro‌ models, but those were just recently updated and wouldn't have impacted the Q1 2026 numbers much. Apple was the number four PC vendor in the world with 6.2 million Macs shipped, up from 5.7 million in the year-ago quarter. Lenovo, HP, and Dell were the top three PC vendors with 16.5, 12.1, and 10.3 million PCs shipped, respectively. Most vendors saw an increase in shipments during the quarter according to IDC, with the exception of HP. Apple had a 9.5 percent share of the global PC market during the quarter, up from 8.9 percent in the first quarter of 2025. Expecting to see a big jump next quarter thanks to the MacBook Neo. ... I hate these types of misleading articles. They compare one manufacturer, Apple, to a hundred different vendors all bundled into a class of "Overall PC Market". Everyone is a computer manufacturer. How about comparing Apple to the number one "PC" manufacturer, Lenovo and put up a headline that Apple sold 63% less Macs than Lenovo sold PC's? How much did Lenovo sales go up or down? Didn't see that stat or even a link to the report. While everyone here just loves to see Macs outselling PC's using some random metric, the fact is, the "Overall PC Market" sells magnitudes more units than Apple does.
