MacBook 15-inch Screen Replacement Guide

The market for MacBook 15-inch screen replacements is currently entering a transformative phase. While legacy demand remains steady for the 2015 Retina (A1398) and Touch Bar (A1707/A1990) models, the industry is bracing for a significant shift to Tandem OLED technology in 2026, which is expected to bring touch capabilities to the MacBook Pro line for the first time.

Wholesale prices for these components typically range from $89 for older legacy models to over $600 for the newest Liquid Retina XDR assemblies. A critical trend for repair shops is the increasing integration of software locks; modern replacements for M-series MacBooks now require specialized calibration tools to maintain features like True Tone. Despite the launch of the 15-inch MacBook Air, screen replacement demand for this model has been lower than anticipated due to overall weaker sales compared to the 13-inch Pro.

The attached report provides a detailed breakdown of pricing by model, upcoming technology shifts, and key consumer pain points such as screen fragility and "Flexgate" issues.
