Marantz Receiver Sr8015
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
I have completed a comprehensive analysis of the Marantz SR8015 receiver, covering its technical specifications, market position, and the recent transition to its successor, the Cinema 30. The SR8015 remains a highly respected flagship model, noted for its monolithic amplifier design and Japan-built quality, though it is now being phased out in favor of the more digitally advanced Cinema series.
Key insights include:
- Product Lifecycle: The SR8015 is now a legacy flagship, replaced by the Cinema 30 which offers expanded HDMI 2.1 support and Dirac Live compatibility.
- Market Value: Due to a significant price gap between the old and new flagships, the SR8015 is currently a high-demand item on the secondary and closeout markets.
- Performance: Benchmarks confirm its stability with low-impedance speakers and an exceptionally low noise floor.
The detailed report below includes a comparative feature table and in-depth analysis of the trends driving the AV receiver market.

Marantz SR8015 Review (11.2 CH 8K AV Receiver) – Home Media ...
h-m-entertainment.com
The SR8015 is the last of the four AV receivers that Marantz had released in 2020 and the only one we didn’t have the chance to test so far. The other three being the SR5015, the SR6015 and the SR7015 which all got good marks from us and hopefully the SR8015 will continue this trend with Marantz being traditionally a brand that has a lot of recognition and respect from fans in this field. Another feature that Marantz seems to favor year after year among their releases is strong custom integration capabilities and the SR8015 continues this trend. The unit features external RS232, IP and Web control capabilities for easy customization and compatibility with third-party integration solutions. The SR8015 keeps exactly the same design elements as the rest of the Marantz models we have seen in the last few years. The only thing that notably changes is the size as the inclusion of more amplifiers and electronics require more space. But what really sets all Marantz receivers apart from the other brands is the unusual circular display that features a blue light on its outside that certainly looks stylish. Not the most practical of displays as the amount of info this can show is rather limited but keep in mind that the SR8015, as was also the case with the SR7015, comes with a second hidden full functions display placed under the front hatch.
"OFFICIAL" 2020 Marantz SR8015 Owner's Thread | AVS Forum
www.avsforum.com
The Marantz top of the line AVR models are a step above the Denon top of the line "non-flagship" models and I thought those Marantz owners might prefer their own thread as is also the case with the SR8012 thread. Not sure why it really makes a difference though whether there are one or two threads to you as having two threads actually puts more work on me in providing responses; however, if enough SR8015 (or SR8012 owners for that matter) don't feel a separate thread is warranted, easy enough to close it. I realize the obvious difference in that the SR8015 will have onboard amplification, but if you plan to use the SR8015 in preamp mode are there $1300 worth of "flagship" improvements in the AV8805(a)? I realize this is a somewhat subjective question (as all "worth it" questions are), but just looking for some pros/cons here as I will likely be purchasing one of these two units to expand from 7.1.4 to 7.1.6 sometime in the next year and I am looking to stick with the Marantz brand (I've been very happy with the SR7011 thus far). Not sure if this is the appropriate thread so I apologize if not, how would the Marantz SR8015 compare to say an anthem MRX 1120 in terms of subjective audio performance? Obviously the HDMI 2.1 would be of benefit for those with 8k or more likely in the near future the gaming improvements. I just received my SR8015 and need some help with speaker setup. This is what I have. I have 2 floor speakers, center channel speaker, 2 surround speakers, 2 dolby atmos enabled speakers that will sit on the floor speakers. Additionally, I have 2 zones that each have 2 speakers in them. This is a total of 11 channels of speakers. I want to be sure I get stereo sound from zone 2 and zone 3. Called Marantz and they said to use height 1 for atmos speakers and then use height 2 and height 3 for speaker connections in zone 2 and zone 3.
Marantz SR8015 11CH 8K DTS:X Pro AV Receiver Review
www.audioholics.com
“Let our rigorous testing and reviews be your guidelines to A/V equipment – not marketing slogans” ... The Marantz SR8015 11.2CH Atmos/DTS:X Pro HDMI 2.1 AV receiver is built on a very solid platform with benchmark measured performance. Is this the best AVR for 2020? We had a few criticisms noted in that review that the engineers at Marantz took seriously enough to address in that model’s successor: the SR8015. Most notable was the preamp output rise in distortion when the unused power amps clipped above a 1.4Vrms input voltage signal. While this is likely inaudible for normal program material, it's still not SOTA performance we'd expect from a flagship Marantz product. With the new SR8015 in hand, we wanted to see if Marantz addressed this issue while also checking out what other improvements they've made along the way. Note: Marantz doesn't allow Auro 3D engagement for tops. They have to be configured as front/back height channels. The SR8015 carries over the flexible input assignability from the SR8012 but with a refresh based on the updated connections and an input mode for easier toggling between connection types.

Marantz SR8015 review | What Hi-Fi?
www.whathifi.com
On first start-up, the Marantz SR8015 amplifier offers a wizard to guide you through. This can go as deeply into things as how to connect your speaker wires to its terminals, but you can skip the bits that you know. Ultimately it leads you to the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration system. We did most of our listening with our regular speakers: a 5.1.4 system. The result? Superb! We doubt very much that we drew even half the power available from the Marantz SR8015 amplifier, and the sense was certainly one of limitless power. The Marantz SR8015 sits at a brilliant sweet spot by offering immensely powerful, capable and versatile home cinema management without diving into the territory of diminishing returns. We shall return to the tuner thing (because we think it’s interesting), but first let’s get into the core of the Marantz SR8015 multichannel amplifier. Because it’s the real deal.
Marantz SR8015 Review Of Specs & Features - HQSound101.com
hqsound101.com
This receiver has built-in HEOS, 8K upscaling, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and HDMI Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), which delivers a big boost in bandwidth and speed, allowing higher-quality audio to be delivered through the Marantz SR8015 receiver and driven out to your speakers. Each channel is amplified independently, providing a balanced sound that any true audiophile will appreciate. It also has some of the most flexible speaker and audio connection options of any of the its competition on the market today. When you begin your search for an A/V receiver, the Marantz SR8015 should be on your list for consideration. This high-quality receiver will simplify our setup and control of all of the components that make up your entertainment system. Will it stand up to the expectations you may have? The SR8015 is Marantz’ latest A/V receiver to be introduced to the public. It has an 11 channel amplifier, produces 140 watts, and has a limit of 13.2 channel processing. It has 8K pass-through and supports all the latest sound formats, like Atmos, Dolby, IMAX, and DTS Virtual: X. The Marantz SR8015 can handle video signals up to an 8K resolution through each of its 8 HDMI inputs. This makes it worth the investment because it won’t become outdated any time in the near future. It processes video quickly enough that using the receiver for gaming consoles will not cause any disruption (lag) in the video signal. The SR8015 will process a 4K signal at a fast 120Hz pass-through rate, with VRR (variable refresh rate) and ALLM (automatic low latency mode).
