The market for the Xiaomi Mi 8 in 2026 has transitioned into an "ultra-budget" niche, primarily serving emerging markets or users seeking legacy flagship build quality at a fraction of modern costs. While the device is increasingly rare in mainstream B2B channels, it remains a notable entry in the second-hand landscape.

Market Trends & Pricing (2026 Context)

* Price Floor: Second-hand Mi 8 units have reached a technical price floor, with base models in fair condition typically trading between $30 and $50 Alibaba. This positions it significantly below even the most affordable used flagships like the Mi 11 Ultra ($270+) Alibaba.

* Volume-over-Value: The 2026 market reflects a broader shift where Xiaomi devices lose value faster than competitors, driving high volume in the sub-$100 segment Alibaba.

* Consumer Sentiment: Interest in the Mi 8 saw a notable spike in early 2026, reaching its highest heat level in June 2026, likely driven by its reputation as a "reliable old flagship" compared to modern low-end budget phones .

Product Insights & Reliability

* Performance: Powered by the Snapdragon 845, it still manages to outperform many modern entry-level "Go Edition" smartphones in basic tasks, though it lacks 5G connectivity E-Catalog.

* Display Quality: The 6.21" AMOLED screen remains a major draw for budget buyers, though buyers should be wary of "screen burn-in" common in older AMOLED panels E-Catalog.

* Critical Weaknesses:

* Battery Health: Most units in 2026 suffer from significant degradation of the original 3400 mAh battery E-Catalog Taobao.

* Software Gap: Stuck on Android 10, the device faces increasing app compatibility issues and security risks in a world running Android 16/17 E-Catalog.

* Connectivity: The lack of a memory card slot and 5G support makes it unsuitable for heavy media users or those in 5G-only coverage zones.
