MikroTik hAP Router Buyer's Guide: ax² vs ax³ Specs & Suppliers

The MikroTik hAP router series continues to dominate the "pro-sumer" and small-business market in 2026, driven by a strong shift toward Wi-Fi 6 standards and edge containerization.

As of mid-2026, MikroTik maintains a global networking market share of approximately 2.5% to 7%, with a particularly high mindshare of 17.3% among technical power users. The hAP ax³ has emerged as the clear performance leader, offering ~50% better routing throughput and 2.5GbE connectivity compared to the more compact hAP ax². Consumer trends highlight a growing demand for routers capable of running Docker containers (e.g., AdGuard Home), a task the ax³ is better suited for due to its USB 3.0 support and improved thermal management.

I have compiled a detailed market analysis report covering performance comparisons, market share data by region, and emerging Wi-Fi 7 trends. The report also includes current B2B pricing and top-rated suppliers for the hAP series.
