Mxq Amlogic S805

As of 2026, the MXQ Amlogic S805 has transitioned from a mainstream consumer product to a legacy budget device. While it is still available on B2B platforms, it faces significant technical and regulatory challenges due to its outdated hardware and software profile. AlibabaAlibaba

Product Insights

* Hardware Status: The original Amlogic S805 chipset is officially End-of-Life (EOL). It typically runs Android 4.4, which lacks modern security patches and app compatibility. AlibabaRigacci

* Technical Gaps: It is limited to 1080p H.265 decoding and lacks hardware support for the AV1 codec, which is now a standard requirement for major streaming platforms like YouTube and Netflix. AlibabaSdmctech

* B2B Pricing: In wholesale markets, these units are priced extremely low, ranging from $5.90 to $25.00 depending on volume. However, direct stock for the specific S805 MXQ model has become scarce as suppliers pivot to modern alternatives. Alibaba

Market Trends & Risks

* Spec Fraud: A major trend in 2026 is the prevalence of "faked" specs in legacy boxes, where units are marketed as having Android 13 or high storage capacities that are actually modified versions of much older software. Alibaba

* Regulatory Scrutiny: Increased enforcement by telecommunications authorities has led to frequent seizures of non-compliant S805 units due to lack of proper certifications (CE/FCC) and signal interference. Alibaba

* Modern Successors: The market has shifted toward the Amlogic S805X2 (for budget 2K/AV1 streaming) and the S905X4 (for high-performance 4K streaming), which offer up to 25% better efficiency and full compliance with modern Google TV requirements. SdmctechAlibaba
