Hey Sony is 2026 the Year of the RX100 VIII?

You’ve kept the RX100 line alive longer than most compact systems, and that matters. But the RX100 VII is now long in the tooth. Autofocus has moved on. Sensors have moved on. Bringing that 'sticky' autofocus to a pocketable body—specifically if they keep the f/1.8-2.8 lens from the VA—would make the VIII the ultimate hobbyist tool. I’m attaching a photo I took with my VA (below) to show why that fast aperture is still so superior to the darker lens on the Mark VII. So what’s the plan? Is there a real RX100 VIII coming, or is Cyber-shot effectively parked?

Still, in my opinion, the chances of a successor to the compact RX100 VII aren’t that bad right now. Compact cameras are still on the rise; by the end of 2025, manufacturers shipped more units than they have in years. Even more efficient battery tech in the same format that kicks out less heat may do it for the VII already · Both photography and videography benefit from such upgrades ... I love my Sony RX 100VI but its a wreck... would love and update, figure I can get a few hundred for a trade in. ... Looking at rx1rm2 vs rx1rm3, I’m guessing if M8 exist it will be a worse and more expensive variant of M7 · Did Anyone notice that the ges has not been released yet this year? ...
