Nokia 2.0 Mega Pixel
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The phrase "Nokia 2.0 mega pixel" refers to a significant era (circa 2005–2006) when Nokia transitioned mobile photography from basic snapshots to high-quality imaging. This period was led by the Nseries and classic business models, which established the 2.0-megapixel sensor as the industry standard for "multimedia computers."
Key Products & Iconic Models
The 2.0-megapixel sensor was the hallmark of several legendary devices that are now highly valued in the retro and collector markets:
* Nokia N90 (2005): A revolutionary "swivel" design that mimicked a camcorder. It was the first Nokia phone to feature Carl Zeiss optics, setting a high bar for mobile photography Wikipedia.
* Nokia 6233 (2005): Known for its stainless steel frame and dual stereo speakers, it brought 2.0MP photography to a traditional candybar form factor. It is celebrated for its "indestructible" build quality Wikipedia.
* Nokia N70 (2005): One of the most popular 3G smartphones of its time, featuring a sliding camera cover and a secondary front camera for video calls Wikipedia.
Market Trends & Insights
- 1Retro & Collector Value: There is a thriving secondary market for these devices. Rare models in original packaging or pristine condition, like the Nokia N90 or luxury 8800 series, can fetch between $130 to over $3,000 among tech collectors AlibabaThejakartapost.
- 2The "Dumbphone" Resurgence: As consumers look for "digital detox" options, classic Nokia phones with 2.0MP cameras are trending. They offer basic utility without the distractions of modern social media apps Facebook.
- 3B2B Supply Chain: Refurbished and "New Old Stock" (NOS) versions are still available in wholesale channels, particularly for the Nokia 6233 and N70. Prices for these retro handsets typically range from $13 to $54 per unit depending on condition and order volume.
