The NVIDIA P106 series (specifically the P106-100 and P106-090) are specialized "headless" graphics cards originally designed for cryptocurrency mining during the 2017 Pascal-era boom. In late 2024 and heading into 2026, they remain niche products primarily relevant for budget-conscious hobbyists and specific industrial applications.

Core Product Overview

The P106 cards are essentially GTX 1060 variants stripped of display outputs (HDMI/DisplayPort) to prevent miners from flooding the secondary gaming market Tomshardware Reddit.

* P106-100: The "full" version, equivalent to a GTX 1060 6GB. It features 1280 CUDA cores and 6GB of GDDR5 memory Aorus Gagadget.

* P106-090: A cut-down variant equivalent to a GTX 1050 Ti, typically featuring 768 CUDA cores and 3GB of VRAM (though 6GB modified versions exist in some markets) Cputronic Ebay.

Market Trends & Insights (2025-2026)

1Mining Obsolescence: As modern Ethereum-based mining has shifted, these cards are no longer profitable for mainstream mining due to poor energy efficiency compared to newer RTX or RX series cards Reddit.
2The "Budget Gamer" Hacked Driver Trend: A significant market trend involves users purchasing these cards for $30–$50 and using unofficial, unsigned drivers to route video through an Intel/AMD CPU's integrated graphics Reddit. This allows for budget 1080p gaming at a fraction of the cost of standard GPUs.
3Modified Re-releases: In some regional markets (e.g., China), manufacturers have begun re-releasing modified P106-090s with 6GB GDDR5 memory to target budget professional tasks like Blender rendering and video editing where VRAM is more critical than raw speed Cputronic Alibaba.
4Supply Scarcity: Wholesale availability of "new" units is extremely limited, with most current supply coming from refurbished mining stock or small-batch custom builds from Shenzhen-based factories Alibaba Alibaba.
