The Peruvian set-top box (STB) market is undergoing a structural shift driven by the ISDB-T digital transition and a rapid migration from traditional cable to Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) bundled with OTT services.

1. Market Trends & Insights

* Digital Switchover (ASO): The analog switch-off for Territory I (Lima & Callao) is effectively finalized, with Territory II (Arequipa, Trujillo, Cusco) currently in the peak transition phase through 2025 Gob. This creates a high demand for basic ISDB-T decoders in these regional hubs.

* Market Consolidation: While Movistar leads with approximately 48-50% market share, it is facing steady decline as users shift to fiber providers like Win and Claro, who bundle high-speed internet with OTT-centric Android TV boxes Gob.

* OTT Dominance: Over 50% of households with internet now use OTT platforms, with Netflix, Disney+, and Max leading the market. The trend is moving toward Hybrid STBs that combine digital terrestrial TV (DTT) with streaming capabilities.

2. Product Trends & Requirements

* Technical Standards: For the Peru market, hardware must support the ISDB-T International standard. High-end devices are now adopting Android 14, 4K resolution, and Wi-Fi 6 Aliexpress.

* Hardware Evolution:

* Basic Decoders: Low-cost MPEG4 ISDB-T receivers (typically $7–$10) remain popular for second TVs in analog-shutdown zones Alibaba.

* Android Hybrid Boxes: Devices that combine DVB-T2/ISDB-T tuners with Android OS (like the V8 ULTRA) are the "all-in-one" solution for modern households Alibaba.
