This means instead of a solid design like in old controllers that lasted forever, they have to be flexible to be depressed as a button in addition to the joystick movements. This causes significant weaknesses. I'm not saying anything is doomed; Just that some more overall commercial development needs to be done, fleshed out, ruggedized, etc. It is odd however that in 2022 we haven't resolved this joystick issue. This controller is certainly not the only example out there as well and is not a 'VR-only' issue by any means... I believe ALL pots basted joysticks have a potential for drift. And I haven't heard of any major company using halls effect joysticks because of the price. There are after market halls effect joysticks for the steam deck you can buy btw.
