Samsung SGH-S500 Collector Guide: Value, Parts & Sourcing

The phrase "Samsung S500 mobile" refers to the Samsung SGH-S500, a classic clamshell phone released in 2003 Maxbhi Gsmarena. While often confused with the newer Samsung Galaxy S5 (released in 2014) or the Galaxy A5 (A500), the SGH-S500 represents a pivotal era in mobile history, known for its dual-display design and tri-band GSM support E-Catalog Gsmarena.

Market Trends & Collector Insights (2026)

In 2026, the SGH-S500 has shifted from a functional device to a vintage collector's item driven by Y2K nostalgia:

* Collector Value: Pristine "New Old Stock" (NOS) or "Complete in Box" (CIB) units are highly sought after, with prices reaching $150+ USD . Standard used units typically trade between $40–$70 USD.

* Aesthetic Appeal: Collectors particularly value the blue-backlit external display and the 80g lightweight foldable body, which remains a benchmark for early-2000s clamshell aesthetics E-Catalog.

* Technical Status: As 2G networks continue to sunset globally, these devices are primarily marketed as display pieces or tools for "digital detox" enthusiasts rather than functional daily drivers .

Sourcing & Spare Parts

Direct B2B availability for the 2003 S500 is extremely limited. However, general spare parts for repair remain available:

* Parts Availability: Wholesale suppliers still offer universal mobile spare parts (flex cables, charging ports) that may be compatible with various legacy models Alibaba.

* Common Confusion: Most current B2B listings for "S500" or "A500" refer to the Samsung Galaxy A5 series, which remains active in the refurbished and parts market Alibaba.
