Second-hand GPU price guide for 2026

The second-hand GPU market in 2026 is experiencing a significant split driven by a global memory shortage (the "RAMpocalypse") and unprecedented demand for AI computing. While high-end last-gen cards are becoming more affordable as enthusiasts upgrade to the RTX 50 series, budget and mid-range cards are seeing price spikes due to new stock shortages.

Market Trends & Pricing Insights

* The AI Premium: High-end consumer GPUs (e.g., RTX 4090/3090) are increasingly sought after for AI training due to their large VRAM. The RTX 3090 remains a "value king" for home AI developers, maintaining a stable price around $500–$800 Gpupoet Gpunex.

* Budget Skyrocketing: Lower-tier cards like the RTX 3060 have seen price increases of up to 12%, with median used prices hitting $470 as buyers are priced out of the new RTX 50 series Gpupoet.

* Production Shifts: Nvidia has reportedly cut production of consumer gaming chips by nearly 40% to prioritize higher-margin enterprise AI chips (H100/B200), further tightening the supply of new cards and driving demand into the used market Tech-Insider.
