Second Hand Ssd 512gb
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The market for 512GB SSDs (both new and second-hand) is currently undergoing a "structural repricing" driven by unprecedented AI infrastructure demand and manufacturer supply cuts. AccioOscooshop While 512GB remains a staple capacity for mainstream laptops, its market dynamics have shifted significantly in 2026.
Market Trends & Insights (2025-2026)
* Price Volatility: NAND flash contract prices have surged 4.2x to 4.5x since late 2025. Oscooshop Consumer SSD prices, including second-hand units, have effectively doubled or tripled from their 2024 lows. GamersnexusOscooshop
* AI-Driven Scarcity: Data centers are "reserving" global supply, leaving retail and second-hand markets with tighter inventory. Gamersnexus Major manufacturers like Kioxia and Western Digital were reported "sold out" of 2026 capacity by early Q2. Gamersnexus
* Capacity Downsizing: Due to high costs, major OEMs have begun reducing standard SSD capacities in new laptop lineups, which may eventually increase the scarcity of 512GB+ units in the secondary market. Oscooshop
* Recovery Outlook: Meaningful price relief is not expected until 2027, following new production capacity from players like YMTC and Micron. OscooshopUnibetter-Ic

Features SSDs: WTF? April 2, 2026 Last Updated: 2026-04-02 We dive deep into why SSD prices are skyrocketing, and why we think they'll get worse in the near-term The Highlights Similar to RAM (DRAM) prices for system memory, SSDs are now plotting an actually worse price increase trajectory by time vs spot price, and we expect contract prices will trailCurrently, data centers and "AI" are driving the demand for SSDs to be deployed in server solutions worldwide, which reduces consumer demandSome SSD NAND suppliers are reducing their production capacity despite high demand Table of Contents AutoTOC Grab a GN15 Large Anti-Static Modmat to celebrate our 15th Anniversary and for a high-quality PC building work surface. This current demand influx is generating abnormal price spikes regardless of the product’s lifetime, and prices are consistently increasing as opposed to the normal pattern of reducing over time, as seen in this 512Gb TLC Spot Price History chart shared by u/MrMPFR on Reddit, which compiles data from other sources like DRAM Exchange. This chart plots spot price session AVGs from July 2025 to March 2026 for DDR5 16Gb, 512Gb TLC, and DDR4 16Gb. To quickly recap: Due to a mixture of SSD and HDD shortages, unprecedented AI server and data center storage demand as servers transition to NVMe drives, and manufacturers with a long history of collusion choosing to cut supply further amidst the shortage: NAND Flash wafer spot prices are increasing at an even faster rate than DDR5, with 512Gb TLC Wafer’s spot price currently sitting at 8.57x its previously stable price held between July and September 2025. Furthermore, major manufacturers are running out of capacity for 2026, like Kioxia, which already sold out of its SSDs, and Western Digital, which already sold out of its hard drives. The first element is a hard drive shortage forming seemingly overnight toward the end of 2025 and beginning of this year, which in turn has accelerated the data center transition towards SSDs during a time of unforeseen storage demand, which is causing pressure on the SSD market. This PC Mag writeup from February notes that AI data centers reserved all of Western Digital’s 2026 supply, quoting Western Digital’s CEO as saying: “We’re pretty much sold out for Calendar 2026.
When Will SSD Prices Go Down? Q3–Q4 2026 Outlook
www.oscooshop.com
NAND flash contract prices have multiplied approximately 4.2–4.5× over the past three quarters (Q4 2025 through Q2 2026), with Q2 alone seeing a 70–75% quarter-over-quarter jump. Industry consensus now places the first meaningful consumer SSD price relief in 2027, not late 2026 as previously hoped. Q3 2026 may bring stabilization — a 0–5% increase instead of double-digit surges — but a return to 2024 price levels is unlikely within the next 18–24 months. If you've been waiting for SSD prices to come back down before upgrading your PC, laptop, or PS5 storage, you're not alone. Since late 2025, storage costs have climbed at a pace the industry hasn't seen in over a decade. The 2 TB NVMe drives that sold for $110–130 during 2024 sales now range from $350 to $480, depending on the model. The more realistic expectation: by late 2027, a quality 2 TB Gen 4 NVMe drive could potentially return to the $200–250 range — down from today's $350–480 range, but still significantly above the 2024 golden era. One variable that could meaningfully accelerate the timeline for price relief is YMTC (Yangtze Memory Technologies Corporation), China's largest NAND flash manufacturer — and one that most Western-focused SSD coverage underestimates. ... As of Q2 2025 data, YMTC already holds approximately 9% of global NAND revenue share, behind only Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron, Kioxia, and SanDisk. The most likely scenario is a gradual easing — prices softening 15–25% over several quarters, not a dramatic overnight drop. A return to 2024 price levels (1 TB NVMe for $55–65, 2 TB for $110) would require a sustained period of oversupply, which no analyst currently projects for the 2027–2028 timeframe.

Posted by u/Jazzlike_Tip_63 - 24 votes and 45 comments A 25% price increase between 2024 and 2025!!! Consider looking on Facebook Marketplace across the entirety of North America. Yes, Facebook did away with shipping for Marketplace in 2024, but believe it or not, a lot of people are still willing to ship if you ask them. You are indeed taking a risk of them screwing you by offering to pay via Zelle, Paypal, Venmo, Wise, Revolut, etc. I'm a little late here but figured I'd share my strategy. You can still find M.2 SSDs, even TLC drives with DRAM cache, at decent prices (at least decent based on December 2025/January 2026 standards).

We use advanced statistical analysis to calculate averages, medians, standard deviation, and price trends. This helps us identify price patterns and remove outliers for more accurate data. Our algorithms also consider market volatility and seasonal trends. Market volatility refers to how much prices vary over time. High volatility means prices fluctuate significantly, while low volatility indicates more stable prices.
