This is my 2nd pair of these headphones - and they are my favorites. I also own an old pair of around-ear bose soundlinks, the soundsport free, and the apple airpods. All have their pros and cons, as I will explain below. The only experience I have with noise-cancellers is with the sony wh-1000xm2 that my wife got as a surprise gift (she loves them). These are my favorite headphones for running or working out, and also watching movies on an airplane. The sound and fit is nearly identical to the soundsport free. They sound like bose headphones - pretty good, you can probably get better sound but there will be compromises in other areas. The soundsport free's have a few strange compromises to eliminate the wire - phone calls only play through the right side, and they have trouble pairing to my laptop (a razer running windows 10)- they would only pair in headset mode and not music mode. I would blame razer or microsoft, but I've never had this problem with any other headphone. These Soundsport have no nonsense with oddities like that, and the reception is a bit better as the antenna is in the wire, not enough to make a difference in practice. But there is, of course, a wire. I consider this a good thing when I run (and I run almost every day) as I tuck it into my headband to keep them from moving.

I purchased the Bose SoundSport in-ear headphones because I either lost on vacation or severely misplaced within my house my Bose IE2 set after using and LOVING them for 4 years. The IE2 was basically the same product, but the earbuds were black and silver (and slightly larger). Simply put, they were the most comfortable and best-sounding earbuds I have ever used, and I have tried A LOT of sub-$100 options. But the IE2 was discontinued/replaced by this models, and this one has the volume and play/pause control for Apple devices, so I decided I would try it out. In terms of sound quality, the SoundSport earbuds perform exactly like I remember my beloved IE2 set. This tends to be protrude and be a little more noticeable in my pocket while working out. Those caveats aside, I'm still giving the SoundSport a 5-star review because I've never found anything close to this level of sound quality, and I think they are actually fairly priced for what they deliver. While in my studio, I use my Sony professional headphones (the industry standard), but part of me always wanted a pair of Bose. I finally decided for my birthday, I'd splurge. I like to workout, and wanted some earbuds which would be perfect for the gym, and the SoundSport seemed to fit the bill, so I ordered mine.

They are fantastic and sound even better. The sound quality is actually a little more crisp with deeper bass compared to the QC20's. I did a side-by-side comparison with the two earphones and I would say that the SoundSport edged out the more expensive QC20's in terms of overall sound quality. I was getting rather tired of my few pairs of cheap earbuds having used them daily and not really getting a great quality sound in return, so I decided to take the plunge on a premium pair and chose the Bose SoundSport. Being a runner and highly active I used my earbuds mostly while exercising or at the gym so I wanted to stay with a smaller compact earbud style as opposed to something clunky. I've tried many varieties of earphones but Imost don't fit me all that well, and most don't stay in place after 5 minutes of exercise. I have tried triple flanges, foam inserts of all shapes, and over the ear loops but I've never made it through an entire run without having to readjust at least a few times. The Bose SoundSports are the first pair that fit so well that I can barely feel them. My previous Bose ie2 earbuds lasted 3 years under everyday use and fairly frequent abuse, like wearing them while sweating in the full sun mowing the lawn (under hearing protection) and weedwacking. At last the wire coating leading to the earbuds began to disintegrate. I had come to rely on them so much that I had to replace them immediately, and I sprung for the slight upgrade to the SoundSport model.
