XP-Pen Star G640 tablet review - I Am Gerard Thomas

After a bit of looking and back and forth review reading, I decided on the wee little XP-Pen Star G640. About the size of Apple’s trackpad, it’s a bare bones tablet with no ‘features’ other than a pen with two buttons. All in all, if you are in the market for a new ‘input device’, or even are looking to try the whole tablet experience to see if it’s fight for you, I can not recommend the Star G640 enough. It’s a simple, good quality little tablet for a price that really can’t be beat. I am impressed enough with little XP-Pen, that I would not hesitate plonking down more for their more advanced offerings. Yes, it would have solved the issues having a desktop I could drive with a pen but I save it only for the work I bought it for, digital drawing and zBrush. But a smaller, non screen tablet, that might be an option. So after looking at the offering from Wacom, the cheapest of which was in the $300 range, I headed over to XP-Pen to see what I could see. It often comes up as Wacom’s only real competition, and if I’d known at the time, I probably would have bought XP’s big screen tablet instead of the Cintiq, if for nothing more than the price – less than half of Wacom’s asking price for effectively the same thing. To say I was amazed at the range of tablets XP-Pen offers would be an understatement, they literally seem to have a tablet for every use and price point.

XP-Pen is a popular brand in drawing tablets, especially their larger devices like the XP-Pen 13.3 Pro and the XP-Pen Deco 01. The XP-Pen Star G640 Drawing Tablet is a small, thin device that’s great for travel and use with a laptop or desktop computer, but does it perform well? See how it compares to other products in its space — check out our reviews for the best drawing tablets. The XP-Pen Star G640 Drawing Tablet costs $39.99. The XP-Pen Star G640 is an upgrade from the G430, which has a drawing area of only 12 square inches compared to the 24 square inches on the Star G640. The G640 also features a micro USB port and cord, whereas the previous model had a fixed cable. The Star G640 has the same active drawing area as other small budget options, such as the Wacom Intuos Small and the HUION Inspiroy H640P. The XP-Pen Star G640 package includes the tablet, a micro USB to USB cable, the battery-free pen, extra pen nibs and a nib-removal tool. This device doesn’t come with a sleeve or storage system for the pen, nor does it come with a pen stand. We think the latter is a vital accessory for drawing tablets, especially for those that are marketed as portable.

The XP-Pen Star G640 Sketch is XP-Pen’s newest screen-less tablet made to compete directly with Wacom’s low-end Intuos series tablets (aka Intuos Draw/Art/Photo/Comic). It is extremely … I can connect my XP-Pen Star 05 and XP-Pen AC19 Shortcut Remote at the same time as the XP-Pen G640 and they all work and are completely programmable. Of course, the only catch here is that only the XP-Pen devices which use the new drivers can do this. I believe the current compatible products are the Star 05, Star 06, Star G430, Star G430S, Star G540, Star G640, Deco 01, Artist13.3, Artist15.6, Artist16 Pro, and AC 19 Shortcut Remote. Personally, I believe that the 6×4 inch drawing area of the XP-Pen G640 is the bare minimum size that anyone should get, so if you can get the bigger size, I would suggest you do so. The XP-Pen Store is XP-Pen’s official online store. So far, I have ordered two products using it; the XP-Pen AC19 Shortcut Remote and the XP-Pen Star G640. I certainly recommend at least looking at Wacom’s products in the future if you ever want to upgrade, but when you’re starting out, there’s absolutely no need to spend the excessively high price Wacom charges for their products. I’m very happy to hear that. I hope my future reviews don’t disappoint either! ... You’re very knowledgable about these topics! You’re doing fantastic work!
