ThinkPad W701ds Collector Guide: Pricing, Specs & Sourcing

The Lenovo ThinkPad W701 and W701ds have transitioned from professional workstations into high-value collector's items. Known as the "Portable Goliath," the series is famous for its integrated Wacom digitizer, built-in color calibrator, and the unique secondary sliding screen on the W701ds.

Market data from 2026 shows that while the standard W701 sells for $350–$850, the dual-screen W701ds has reached "holy grail" status, with functional units fetching $800–$1,200 and rare "New Old Stock" units exceeding $1,800. There is virtually no B2B/wholesale supply left, making individual collector platforms the only source for these machines.

The attached report provides a detailed breakdown of specifications, historical context, and current secondary market pricing trends.
