Thrustmaster T500 Rs
Overview
Product sourcing insights & recommendations
The Thrustmaster T500 RS, once a legendary flagship in the sim racing world, has transitioned into a "legacy" status in 2026. While still respected for its raw power and industrial build, it is now primarily a niche choice for collectors or budget-conscious second-hand buyers due to the industry-wide shift toward Direct Drive (DD) technology Eteknix.
Core Product Insights
* Performance: Known for its high-torque dual-belt drive system and 1080-degree rotation. It features H.E.A.R.T (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) for magnetic precision, which remains competitive in terms of resolution (16-bit) Ubuy.
* Physicality: Distinguished by its massive weight and all-metal, 3-position adjustable pedals (GT vs. F1 style). However, its bulky footprint is often cited as a downside in modern, compact setups Eteknix.
* Common Issues: The unit is notorious for thermal fading and loud internal fans. In 2026, many surviving units require aftermarket fan mods to maintain performance during long races RedditFandom.
Market Trends (2025-2026)
* Discontinuation & Replacement: The T500 RS is no longer in mass production. B2B markets and major retailers have pivoted to newer models like the T300 RS (for smoother belt drive) or the T598 (Thrustmaster's entry into affordable Direct Drive) OvertakeAlibaba.
* Second-Hand Value: On platforms like Reddit and eBay, the T500 RS is valued as a "project wheel." Buyers are warned that at current used prices (often $250–$400), a modern entry-level DD bundle from Moza or Fanatec offers better value and reliability RedditReddit.
* Search Interest: Interest in the T500 RS remains steady among enthusiasts for its unique "active" pedal set, but general market sales for steering wheel stands now focus heavily on compatibility with modern Logitech (G29/G923) and newer Thrustmaster bases Amazon.
