The Monitouch V708CD is a legacy 7.7-inch industrial HMI (Human-Machine Interface) manufactured by Fuji Electric/Hakko Electronics. While the product is officially discontinued, it remains a critical component in many aging industrial automation systems, driving a robust secondary market for refurbished units and repair parts Fujielectric Nexinstrument.

Product Insights & Specifications

* Legacy Hardware: The V708CD features a 7.7-inch Color STN display with a VGA (640x480) resolution and 128-color depth Fujielectric Sigmasurplus.

* Resistive Touch: It utilizes an analog resistive film touchscreen, which is a common point of mechanical failure in high-use industrial environments Vicpas Fujielectric.

* Connectivity: Unlike modern units, it primarily relies on serial communication (RS-232C/422/485) and requires expansion units for Ethernet functionality Fujielectric.

Market Trends

* Phase-Out & Migration: The market is rapidly shifting from the legacy V7 series (STN displays, serial ports) to the V9 series (TFT displays, built-in Ethernet, and USB) Fujielectric. Modern replacements like the V908iCD offer 16.7 million colors and IIoT readiness while maintaining the same panel cutout for "drop-in" physical replacement.

* Sustained Repair Demand: Due to the high cost of redesigning machine control logic, there is significant demand for "New Old Stock" (NOS) and refurbished units. Prices for these legacy units on B2B platforms typically range from $45 to $700 depending on condition Alibaba Alibaba.

* Repair Economy: A specialized niche has emerged for replacement parts, including touch glass digitizers and backlight repair kits, to extend the life of existing V708CD units without requiring full hardware upgrades Vicpas.
